Originally the is written in Portuguese, the book has won the Guinness World record for being the most translated book by a living author. With over 30 million copies sold worldwide and translated into 63 languages. The style of the book is a third-person narrative. It’s a simple language, yet effective. Every word lends meaning to the story. It is ideal for readers with a basic command over the English language, as well as, for those who are proficient.
The Alchemist is written by Paulo Coelho. It’s about a shepherd named Santiago who is following his dream as it is described in the book. His dream about finding treasure in the Pyramids of Egypt. That’s why the shepherd boy starts his journey. In this journey, he meets many types of people like gypsy, mysterious king, Englishman, Alchemist and so on. The like most of the quotes in the first chapter: “To realize one’s destiny is a person’s only obligation”, and “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
In the entire journey, the boy learns many lessons. Each and every part of the book is a metaphoric lesson for the readers. It’s all about how a person can be a person, that means a real person. The boy learns how to survive in the desert, alchemy, love, business, etc.
Lots of adventure in the book I find and also the metaphoric lessons that should differ from others. There is some lesson I find that book: Every person has own dream, without action, there is nothing to achieve, Fear of failure, Focus in the dream, Every blessing you ignore became a curse, Leave in the present, Fear of suffering the worse than the suffering itself. The main lesson that I learn from the book what happens to make the dream success or failure, but the entire journey to reach the dream it give some lesson what is the help of the entire life of a person.
At the end of the story, the author makes the main twist, after reaching the pyramid is the boy find the treasure or not? I would recommend reading this book to know the twist. The book is an absolute necessity read for any person who is at present attempting to make sense of what they need to do in their life. The book will reverberate more with people who are right now seeking after their fantasy. Any of those individuals will relate directly to Santiago. I encourage those individuals to read this book. Whether you are discouraged or have high optimism, there will be a time when you are discouraged and you will immediately think back to this book and the shepherd Santiago and you will know that you will go through shit but “the universe conspires to help any individual trying to achieve their personal legend.”
